I am Laquanda Bruce, and I am super excited about teaching 7th and 8th grade English this year!

Just as a little background information, I earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary/Early Childhood Education, a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction, and a Doctor of Education in Teacher Leadership. I also earned teacher certifications in Reading (K-12); Middle School (4-8) Mathematics, General Science, and English Language Arts; Elementary (K-6); and Early Childhood Education (P-3). In addition, I have over 20 years of teaching experience in elementary and middle grades.

My commitment to teaching and learning is paramount. I pride myself in creating engaging, rigorous, and meaningful learning experiences for all students. Setting high and realistic goals for my students, holding them accountable for their actions, and designing organized and systematic routines and procedures are essential best practices in my classroom. I also work diligently to build positive relationships with students, parents, faculty, and administrators and to be the advocate my students need to succeed. While I consider myself a jack-of-all-trades in the classroom, my ultimate focus is always teaching and learning.

I wholeheartedly believe that my educational philosophy closely matches that of Prattville Junior High School, and I look forward to making this the best year yet!
